A database is located on a server and this stores the entered data in a series of related tables. If the computer is on a network, the system can be accessed by as many people as required. System users may or may not be required to log on and may have different access rights.

No special software is need to run a system like this, just Internet Explorer and enough space on the server to host all of the files that make it work. Once a system like this has been developed, there are little or no on going costs. If such a system is availabvle online, a domain name and hosting might be required.
